GMTK Game Jam 2024 Submission

Scoots, a kobold, is on a journey to climb a mountain that is supposed to be an ancient dragon turned to stone. With the help of some mechs they've created.

Note:

  • There's a "Back to Town" button available from the pause menu if you get stuck
  • While in town, the pause menu gives you access to a shop to buy upgrades to your mech

Controls:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys
  • Use Glider: Up
  • Jump: Space
  • Interact: E
  • Pause Game: P, Esc
  • Open Inventory: I
  • Select Inventory: Left Click
  • Rotate Inventory: Right Click
  • Switch Mech: Ctrl

Mech Upgrades:

  • Double Jump: Adds an extra jump
  • Triple Jump: Adds Two Extra jumps
  • Jump Booster: Increases your jump power
  • Big Jump Booster: Really increases your jump power
  • Rocket: Allows you to fly briefly
  • Big Rocket: Allows you to fly for longer
  • Glider: Allows you to glide for a short time
  • Big Glider: Allows you to glide for a longer time
  • Turbo: Small boost to speed and acceleration
  • Big Turbo: Big boost to speed and acceleration
  • Brakes: Don't buy it; Rodgort is scamming you

It took some time to figure out how to play it (In firefox it is completely broken, probably godots fault though). It has nice gameplay & graphics & music, but still has some major bugs. (assuming they aren't from godots browser implementation)

The biggest problem in my opinion is that you decided to use the arrow keys instead of WASD. Now you have to always switch with your hand to press stuff like E.


Still very good for the limited time frame we had!

I like it! The art is simple but cute, the music is nice, and the platforming feels pretty good once you have some of the upgrades.
